These requirements are to set a base for what Broadsign Ayuda’s clients should be looking for in their investment on the hardware that is realistic for their needs.
Broadsign Ayuda strongly recommends testing the hardware with the targeted OS in the targeted physical conditions to ensure optimal operation of the system once the player is installed.
To know for certain if the hardware is adequate for your needs, test a sample hardware with your actual content, schedule and network. There are many variables that can affect performance such as file format and encoding, full motion vs animation, forward and store usage, dynamic content configuration, Wi-Fi reception, et cetera.
Generally, any hardware capable of downloading and running Full HD will suffice, however for outstandingly high-quality content or heavy-duty operations we recommend:
- CPU: Intel Core i7 3.33 GHz (or higher), x86 or x64 architecture
- Memory: 4 GB (or more)
- HDD: 10 GBs free space and free space provisioned for the media files to be played (60GB or more)
- Graphics: HW decoding and HW acceleration with a minimum of 1GB of Video RAM. Ensure it is certified for the resolution required, if it exceeds 1920x1200 (WUXGA)
- Networking: 1Gbps Wired
- CPU: Intel Core™ i5 3.33 GHz (or higher), x86 or x64 architecture
- Memory: 4 GB (or more)
- HDD: 10 GBs free space and free space provisioned for the media files to be played (10GB or more)
- Graphics: HW decoding and HW acceleration with a minimum of 128MB of Video RAM.
- Networking: 100Mbps Wired, 802.11ac WIFI, 4G or LTE cellular data link
The minimum hardware requirements are the minimum required for playback with very low performance demands. Namely the playback of pictures only, of small resolution, no complex videos and simple html documents. Broadsign Ayuda does not recommend this level of hardware for high resolution content, dynamic content, synchronization, and transitioning between spots, unless the player has a hardware accelerated graphics card to leverage the rendering over the CPU.
