Add a Broadsign Control for System on Chip User in Broadsign Control

To use Broadsign Control for System on Chip, you must add a user in Broadsign Control Administrator with a valid REST API authorization token.

The REST API token is needed only for the initial connection between Broadsign Control Administrator and SignageOS. Additional users that request to be added at the organizational level to work with SignageOS do not require the REST API token to be activated.

Note: You will need to note this token and use it when installing the Broadsign Control for System on Chip applet in the signageOS interface. See Install the Broadsign Control for System on Chip Applet.

Note: For security reasons, Broadsign recommends to create a user that has no privileges and does not belong to any user group.

To create a user (Broadsign Control for System on Chip):

  1. In Broadsign Control Administrator, go to the Operations ribbon, and click the User icon.
  2. Select a folder where to put the user.
  3. The Add User Wizard is displayed.

  4. Type a descriptive name for this user in the Welcome page.
  5. Enter a password for the user in the Password Setup page.
  6. For more enforced security, the following rules apply when choosing a password for your user:

    • A minimum of 8 characters
    • A minimum of 1 non-alphabetic character

  7. Enter the username (login name) of the user in the Username page.
  8. Skip all other pages in the wizard, then click Finish.
  9. Once the user is created, you must generate the API token.

  10. Double-click your user and go to the Credentials tab.
  11. Check the Enable REST API Authentication token generation option.
  12. Click Generate Token.
  13. The token is displayed in a new window.

  14. Note this token, as Broadsign Control Administrator will not show it again.

You will need it when installing the Broadsign Control for System on Chip applet in the signageOS interface.

  15. Warning: When clicking OK, the token is not displayed anywhere. If you have not noted it, you will not be able to retrieve it.

Warning: If you use this token in the signageOS interface and later decide to generate another token, the old token will be replaced for this user. Your applet registration will no longer be valid.
