To get started, take the following steps:

  1. Ensure your TV or PC monitor has at least one HDMI input.
  2. Use the HDMI cable to connect the Broadsign Xpress player to your screen.
  3. Use the USB ports to plug in a keyboard and mouse.
  4. Ensure to plug in the RJ45 cable if using a wired connection.
  5. Connect the 5V power adapter supplied in the DC input port.
  6. Press the power button for 2-3 seconds to turn it on (until the power LED lights up blue).
  7. Turn on your TV or PC monitor and select the corresponding HDMI input.

Log in by entering the password bbox1.

Select the Broadsign Installer app located on your home screen to launch the three step installation process.

Step 1: Configure the Network Connection

  1. To configure the wi-fi or ethernet connection, from the Welcome page, select Network Settings.
  2. The Settings page opens. Set the desired connection type to “ON”.
  3. Once selected, to return to the Broadsign Installer Welcome page, hit the back button (or right-click if you are using a mouse).
Step 2: Select Your Time Zone

  1. To configure your time zone, from the Welcome page, select Time Zone Settings.
  2. The Date & Time page opens. Select your time zone.
  3. Once selected, to return to the Broadsign Installer Welcome page, hit the back button (or right-click if you are using a mouse).
Step 3: Download and Install the Broadsign Player

  1. To download and install the player, from the Welcome page, select Download & Install.
  2. Select Install Broadsign.
  3. When prompted to install BSUM to enable the upgrade manager for your Broadsign Player, select Install.
  4. When prompted to insall the watchdog, which enables self-initiated corrective actions that will detect and resolve malfunctions, click Install.

The system will shut down and auto restart upon completion. This may take several minutes.

Once rebooted, the Broadsign Player will automatically start running in fullscreen.

To register the Player, you will need its MAC address (shown on the screen). For a detailed tutorial, see Network Setup – Register a Player.

The Broadsign Player is now set up, fully registered and ready to use in your domain. Broadsign Xpress will now run in dedicated mode and start automatically upon reboot without requiring a user to log in.

To exit the Broadsign Player, left-click and then right-click anywhere on the screen for the Menu to appear in its top-left corner. Select Operations > Exit to quit the Broadsign Player. Quitting the Player in this fashion will also disable the watchdog and the Player will no longer be automatically restarted until it is either rebooted or started manually.

Screen scaling may need to be adjusted to make the output fit the screen boundaries. Adjust screen scaling by selecting Settings > Screen > Screen Scale.

Broadsign Xpress: Parts

Power button To turn on, hold the power button for 2-3 seconds until the power LED glows. To turn off, hold the power button and select okay when prompted to power off or hold the power button for 8 seconds to force power off.
