Configuring the Loop Template for Ad Serving
Ad server content can be used:
- With a specific design
- When a loop is not filled completely
- Or when space is simply to be reserved for ad serving.
To configure a Loop Template:
- Within Splash, click Configuration then Loop Templates.
- Click the button to create a new loop template.
- Click the icon to make the record editable.
This presents a filter search screen for locating player configuration records.
You can also search for an existing Loop Template and double-click it to open it. This opens the loop template record.
To allow ad serving:
- Enable the Allow Ad Serving check box.
- Reserved Loop Time for Ad Serving (in seconds) – This has an impact on avails.
- Send Ad Server Requests for Unsold Spots – If checked, the player first attempts to fill unsold spots in the loop using ad serving content. If none is available, then filler will be used.
- Click Save Changes.
This presents additional items.
It reserves the amount in seconds from your inventory for ad server content. For example, if a loop is one minute, and a value of 10 is here, then only 50 seconds will be available to Juice for Avails searches.
This number must be an even multiple of the spot length for this loop.
Unsold has two considerations: filler and without filler. If there is filler, the time left will be filled with filler BUT the player will try to replace them with ad serving content because it is of higher value. If the ad server answers that there is no ad server content to play, then there are two options depending on the design level.
In designs there is a Skip if Empty check box (in the design Basic Info tab, enable the Third Party Ad Tag to reveal this check box.) If it is checked, then the player will not play the filler. If it is not checked, then the filler design will be presented.
This closes the Loop Template record window and presents the previous screen. The loop templates with ad serving enabled will be indicated.
The next step is to configure players using this loop template to be ready to accept ad server content.
