Introducing Filler
This page introduces filler content.
Filler
Filler is content that exists to prevent a billboard or digital face from having nothing on it.
These are sometimes referred to as house ads. If you have ever driven past a billboard with a notice to business owners that this space could have been theirs this month, that would be a filler ad.
As with the sites, faces and loops, the deployment of fillers and their restrictions is not changed often. New chartists and digital schedulers will not be configuring the core functionality of fillers but they can expect to add, edit and delete filler.
- If spots remain unfilled in a loop, fillers are what display. (This assumes there is no programmatic advertising.)
- If a player group accidentally has its ads for practical purposes disabled, fillers will be shown.
- Filler designs and bundle are network-wide by default. Meaning, if a filler design is uploaded, it is by default available for use by all players in your company’s network. Hence, new Broadsign Ayuda users should be somewhat cautious of loading example filler unless working in a training sandbox.
Some Broadsign Ayuda clients refer to filler as floating content. However, Broadsign Ayuda distinguishes between two types of floating content: editorial and filler.
It is not necessary to reserve time in loops for fillers. Fillers play by default if spots are unsold. Needing to schedule filler would defeat the feature's point.
Filler functionality works hand in hand with restrictions. It is very common for different filler content to appear in different locations. For example, a shopping mall may have filler ads suggesting patrons visit the food court. Players in the food court do not need to run these particular filler items.
Broadly, filler content works the same as advertising designs. The design and bundle screens operationally work the same way. Digital schedulers familiar with advertising design and bundles will already have grasped the fundamentals of how to create and manage filler.
Yes. Again, the difference is the Content Type selection.
Do not uncheck allow unbooked playback for filler. This is required for filler to function correctly.
Some filler designs can be assigned as higher priority fillers. The player will try to keep the percentage of high priority fillers played above this number. The actual priority percentage is determined by your Broadsign Ayuda administrators.
Filler will run everywhere if uploaded and saved without restrictions. It will work 'like car without brakes'. This is by design to prevent black screens. New digital schedulers may not want to experiment with this feature until they have some experience and know how their firm's restrictions are set up.
