Configure Broadsign Air

Broadsign Air generates playlists server-side rather than on-device, significantly reducing deployment and integration challenges.

Broadsign Air can be used, for example, when a number of players are in the same physical location (for example, office towers or transit stations) and need to play the same content at the same time.

You can also query Broadsign Air for the list of creatives that are scheduled to play within up to the next 48 hours. This can be used, for example, to pre-cache your creatives ahead of time so they are ready when they appear in a Playlist. For more details, see content.

Broadsign Air players can fetch offline playlists that are available for up to 14 days. For more details, see generate_long.

Synchronizing the display of the same ads at the same time is achieved by players syncing their time with the Network Time Protocol (NTP) and following a predefined playlist.

Prerequisites

  • Before using the Broadsign Air API, you must request that Broadsign activates Broadsign Air on your domain.
  • Note: By default, the first 10 minutes of any playlist generated will be "frozen" once generated. This 10 minute setting can be customized when Broadsign Air is activated, depending on the requirements of the deployment.

  • Since the Broadsign Air playlists are based on timestamps, you must configure Network Time Protocol (NTP) on your external players. This will avoid the players not playing slots at exactly the time they should.
