Understanding "Partially Available" Inventory
Partially Available Inventory
Static Campaigns
Sales users and chartists often come across inventory marked as "partially available." This status arises from two primary factors:
- Time
- An item is considered partially available when, within the specified date range, it has some open availability but not for the entire duration.
- For instance, if you are searching for inventory availability in January, and a particular face is already booked for one week within that month, it will be classified as partially available.
- State of sale
- This refers to situations where inventory might be technically sold but could still be available under certain conditions. Examples include:
- Pre-emptible inventory – Inventory that can be bumped by another advertiser willing to pay a higher price.
- Moveable inventory – Inventory that can be shifted to a different time slot to accommodate other bookings.
- This refers to situations where inventory might be technically sold but could still be available under certain conditions. Examples include:
To get more detailed information about why specific faces are partially available, you can delve deeper into the Static Avails or Static Pack Avails results.
To drill into the partially available results:
- Access Campaigns in the top-left menu, click the Sales tab, and then the Static Avails or Static Pack Avails tile needed for the type of inventory search required.
- Click the Timeline button at the top.
- If you prefer a list, click the List button at the top and scroll right to see the Available Dates column.
- Click the Export to Excel button.
Clicking a timeline item opens a new tab about the campaign showing the availability of spots in a graphical view.
Each inventory item has a bullet with a right carat . Clicking it shows details about its availability, including what campaigns are making use of it, and when it is available.
The selected data will download as a Microsoft Excel document. It will be in the browser's download's directory.
Bonus Bookings: A Cause of Partial Availability
Partial availability of inventory can also occur when buyers opt for lower-priced bookings that can be bumped or preempted. This practice allows for schedule adjustments or accommodates unexpected situations like construction, repairs, or vehicle unavailability. Campaigns can compensate for such shortfalls by booking bonus segments.
Bonus bookings may be mandatory for large accounts or offered as optional goodwill gestures. Both scenarios contribute to the dynamic nature of partial availability, where inventory might suddenly appear or disappear.
Pre-Emptable and Moveable
Some buyers agree that their ad buys can be pre-empted or moved. Despite being sold and showing as sold in an avails search, their locations may be available for other campaigns, under the right circumstances.
