Creating Design Variations

Design variation codes are a marker that two or more designs can share so that one design can be substituted for another sharing the same variation code.

Design variation codes are created each time designs are uploaded. The default code is simply a timestamp. This can be edited at any time and be changed to text value such 'This is Spot One'.

There are two ways to edit design variation codes.

To create design variations in the Design Record:

  1. Once the design record is visible, click the icon. This makes the record editable.
  2. Edit the Design Variation Code field.
  3. Click Save Changes. The screen refreshes to present the edited record. To add the designs variation code to other files, repeat the process on the required designs.

To create design variations in the Search Results:

A second way to group files by design variation code is in the Media Files search filter field.

  1. Select the Content tab and then click the Media Files tile.
  2. This presents a filter search window.

  3. The digital faces to be added to the group must be identified. Use the search filter to locate them, then click Search.
  4. This presents a record list of media files.

  5. Click the check boxes of the files that are to share a design code.
  6. Click the Grouping Button---Group.png button.
  7. The existing design variation codes are overwritten with a new time stamp.

  8. Refresh the screen with a new search to see the new design variation code.
  9. R2.jpg

Tip: When possible, copy and paste the design variation code so that no errors such as extra spaces creep in.
