Introducing Network Sync

Sync Groups

Sync Groups allow two or more digital faces to operate in sync. The faces in the group use the same schedule, the same loop, spot transitions and same content played, and timing. The faces will present content in sync in all respects.

The Sync Groups feature is often used with the Design Variations function

Sync groups can be created at any time after deployment by Broadsign Ayuda users with access to the Asset tab. Once this happens, digital schedulers will be able to use sync groups when scheduling campaigns.

Can Sync Groups Overlap?

No. A face can be in only one sync group at a time.

Can Faces Change Sync Groups?

Yes. Re-assign the face using the same process. Remember to reboot the player.

Can Sync Groups Contain other Sync Groups?

No.

Troubleshooting

If a face is not playing content within the sync group – reboot the player. It may have been assigned to a sync group but not rebooted.

Similar Sounding Features

Mimic this Player is a similar sounding feature but playbacks do not contribute to proof of play statistics. Mimic players are useful for in-loop debugging, testing, in-office monitoring of remote or difficult to access faces.

Packs are groups also, but of faces. These may be handy organizations of sites and faces so that inventory can be booked quickly. An example of a pack could be all of the digital players in the north end of a shopping mall. Packs are configured by your Broadsign Ayuda administrator. However, packs do not have any synchronization features since these may also include static faces.

Leader and Follower Players are often mentioned in concert with sync groups, but these are different features. A Sync Group requires a Leader player and at least one follower. The value of this to make managing many players easier.

Unsynchronized Bundles are used if a follower player cannot play the file that the Leader player is ordering it to present. Left uncorrected, the follower player's loops would get out of sync. Instead, the follower player will play a spot from this unsynchronization bundle.
