Broadsign Android Player
Broadsign Android Player is a derivative of the Broadsign Control Player application that plays content from a screen running the Android operating system. It also reports proof-of-play statistics back to Broadsign Server.
Broadsign Android Player plays content coming from Broadsign Air Playlists.
You will need the following to properly configure and use Broadsign Android Player:
- An Android device running one of the supported Android versions.
- Access to the Google Play Store or a release APK of the Broadsign Android Player.
- Request that Broadsign Air is activated on your domain.
- A user in Broadsign Control Administrator with a valid REST API authorization token. Broadsign Services has already created and shared with you a user with the Manager role during your on-boarding process.
You can install and run the Broadsign Android Player on devices running Android 7.0 (Nougat) or later.
Broadsign Android Player – Supported Features
The Broadsign Android Player supports scheduling content from any part of the Broadsign Platform, including:
- Broadsign Guaranteed Campaigns (Broadsign Direct)
- Broadsign Reach
- Broadsign Publish
- Broadsign Control, with support for dynamic Conditions
The system displays content anywhere on your screen using Custom Geometry. If the system cannot play specific content, Filler Content automatically replaces it to prevent black screens. To manage inconsistent connections, Network Controls and network throttling regulate the speed and timing of content downloads.
The automatic Disk Cache Management prevents the disk from running out of space by clearing unnecessary data. If the system detects a connection failure, it can trigger Missing in Action alerts to notify network operators immediately. Players maintain operation for 48 hours after losing a network connection and continue to accumulate proof-of-play data while offline.
To ensure constant uptime, the player automatically restarts if it closes or minimizes for any reason. You can also schedule a daily restart to maintain optimal application performance.
Note: Broadsign Control Live features are not supported.
