About Proposals
Broadsign Direct is all about creating proposals and selling screen inventory. The Proposal Builder helps you do this.
On this page, we describe how to perform a few proposal-related tasks:
- Access the Proposal Builder: In Broadsign Direct, you can access the builder in a number of different ways.
- Build a Proposal: We describe the sections of the builder.
- Edit a Proposal: We describe how to edit an existing proposal.
- Clone a Proposal: We describe how to clone an existing proposal.
- Delete a Proposal: We describe how to delete an existing proposal.
- Download a Proposal: Download proposal PDFs to send to clients.
Proposal PDFs can include your terms and conditions and graphics, e.g., logo or images of screens. To configure these details, see Submit your Company Information to Broadsign.
For detailed, step-by-step tutorials about creating proposals see Inbound RFP Tutorial.
Tip: If you are a Salesforce user, you can also use the Broadsign Direct Salesforce plugin to streamline your lead-to-cash workflow. See Broadsign Direct Salesforce Plugin.
Note: Though the main task of Sales, all other roles in Broadsign Direct can create proposals. See User Privileges by Role.
There are a number of ways to access the Proposal Builder and edit existing proposals. This page provides an overview of the different paths into the builder.
To create a proposal, you need to open the Proposal Builder (see Proposal Builder). We understand that proposal building can be a part of a few different work flows. We designed Broadsign Direct such that you can access the Proposal Builder from any of its four main pages (see Tour the Broadsign Direct Interface).
Access the Proposal Builder in one of the following ways:
-
Go to the Dashboard page. In the Last Updated Proposals widget, select New Proposal (see Dashboard Page).
-
Go to the Dashboard page. In the Most Popular Packages widget, click the
icon next to the package that you want to use to create a proposal (see Dashboard Page).
-
Go to the Proposals page. From the Proposal Status Menu, select New Proposal (see Proposals Page).
-
Go to the Packages page. Click the
icon next to the package to use (see Packages Page).
Note: If you open the Proposal Builder from a package, the screens in the package will appear in the builder automatically.
-
Go to the Digital Inventory page (see Digital Inventory Page) or Static Inventory page (see Static Inventory Page). In the Summary Panel on the right, click Proposal.
Note: If you open the Proposal Builder from the Digital Inventory page, screens you have selected from the inventory list will appear in the builder automatically. Likewise, if you open the Proposal Builder from the Static Inventory page, faces you have selected from the inventory list will appear in the builder automatically.
Next, we will review the information that you can enter to build a proposal.
Once you have opened the Proposal Builder, you can enter some details to add a proposal to your network. In order to save the proposal, at a minimum you need to enter a name.
For a detailed tutorial, see Inbound RFP Tutorial.
The following video describes how to book a proposal from the Static inventory.
To build a proposal
- Using one of the methods in Access the Proposal Builder, open the Proposal Builder.
-
Enter a name for the proposal (required before you can save it). Then, enter your client's information. See Proposal Name and Client Info.
-
Select your packages or individual screens. See Packages and Screens.
-
Configure the ad flight selector. See:
- The Ad Flight and Type of Buy Selectors (Digital Screens)
- The Flight Duration Selector (Static Faces)
-
Upload a picture that will appear in your proposal PDF (sometimes called the "hero shot"). See Proposal Description and Picture Uploader.
- Add a proposal description (that will appear in the proposal PDF).
- Enter a price for the proposal (you can use the suggested price, based on your rate cards, as a guide).
-
Select one of the following options:
- Delete: Deletes your progress from your domain. You will be unable to retrieve your work.
- Done: Saves the proposal. Considered an "explicit" save of your changes.
- Hold: Holds the proposal for the number of days specified in the Domain Settings in the Proposal hold automatic expiry time field (see Domain Settings Page). For more information on proposal holds, see About Inventory Holds.
- Submit for booking: Submits your proposal to your scheduling team for booking.
If you are holding a proposal or submitting a proposal for booking, Broadsign Direct performs an availability check with the screens, faces, or packages that you have selected.
If screens are partially available, click the See the blocking proposals link to see the list of proposals that are already booked on them.
For more information, see Availability Check Feature.
- In the availability check window, click Hold remaining time or Book remaining time, depending on the action that you are performing.
Next, we will review how to edit an existing proposal.
In Broadsign Direct, you can only edit a proposal that is In progress. Proposals that have been saved at least once (that is, clicked the Done button), have a Saved status.
For more information, see The Proposal Status Menu.
Note: If you have already booked your proposal and want to edit it further, contact your scheduling team.
The following video describes how to edit an existing proposal.
To edit a proposal, use one of the following methods:
-
Go to the Dashboard page. In the Last Updated Proposals widget, select a proposal (see Dashboard Page).
-
Go to the Proposals page. In the Proposal Status Menu, go to In progress. Click the
icon of the proposal to edit (see Proposals Page).
In Broadsign Direct, you can clone a proposal that is in any status. The copy of the proposal will be created under the In progress tab.
Cloning a proposal is used to:
- Expedite campaign creation by creating a new proposal with all the settings and parameters of an existing one.
- Renew a campaign (proposal line item) when amending a proposal. If you have a proposal that is already submitted, that is, it is booked in Broadsign Control Administrator, you amend the proposal by cloning the proposal line item, and then submit for booking this cloned proposal. It will be created in Broadsign Control Administrator. It will be the same as renewing a campaign from Broadsign Direct.
The start date of the cloned proposal will be the same if it is in the future. If the start date of the cloned proposal is in the past, the new start date will be the current date.
For more information, see The Proposal Status Menu.
