Share of Voice Types of Buy
This page describes the Share of Voice Types of Buy and the specifics related to them.
The Share of Voice (SoV) is a type of ad revenue model that focuses on the percentage of activities for one specific brand. If you want to increase the chances of your content to be seen, you can increase your SoV.
When selecting the Share of Voice (SoV) Type of Buy in the Line Item page, a second drop-down menu offers you a choice of four types of SoV:
- Fixed – SoV ad revenue model that ensures a fixed SoV at all times. It offers the ability to commit to a specific share of voice on every loop if available. This is the most rigid of the share of voices since there is no distribution involved.
- Daily Average – SoV ad revenue model that ensures campaigns that have been contracted maintain the specified SoV every day of the flight duration regardless of the screens where the SoV is allocated. You can thus sell a SoV that will be spread as evenly as possible on all screens while maintaining the desired average.
- Daily Average per screen – SoV ad revenue model that allows the booking of average SoV to achieve a specific daily SoV on each screen regardless of the times the ad plays. You can thus sell a daily SoV on every screen that will be spread as evenly as possible throughout all hours of the day.
- Campaign Average – SoV ad revenue model that ensures the requested Share of Voice is achieved on average across the duration of the campaign.
The SoV value for your current selection is displayed in the current settings component of the interface:
Fixed SoV
Guaranteed Campaigns
The Fixed SoV allows you to commit to a specific share of voice on every loop if available. It is the most rigid of the share of voices since there is no distribution involved. It is recommended if you have screens with different loop lengths.
The Fixed SoV uses an all-or-nothing approach. If, on a certain loop, the system cannot reserve the requested SoV, it will not reserve anything at all. The resulting share of voice will be lower when the availability is lower than 100%. The Fixed SoV allows partial bookings.
A Fixed SoV line item is not available if there is not a single loop where the requested SoV can be scheduled.
Note: The Min/Max boundaries do not apply to the to Fixed SoV type of buy.
You can enable Fixed SoV-based line items to be rebalanced (see Use the Rebalancing Feature).
- The system can only reclaim the space assigned to the Fixed SoV-based line item. It cannot increase or decrease the SoV percentage.
- If a lower priority Fixed SoV-based line item needs to be sacrificed to accommodate higher priority line items, it will be assigned 0 saturation during that period.
After rebalancing, a Fixed SoV-based line item is not processed as a repetition goal and receives the SoV % requested.
When a Takeover is cancelled, a Fixed SoV-based line item can reclaim the space that it had before the Takeover, with the same SoV %.
- When used in a Manual Selection line item:
- The campaign will play the specified SoV at all times on every screen selected.
- The screens used will never change.
- When used in a Dynamic Selection line item:
- The campaign will play at the specified SoV at all times on the specified number of screens.
- Any screen from the selected pool can be used throughout the duration of the campaign.
- The playout can move between screens, but the SoV and number of screens will persist at all times.
The Suggested Price calculation for Fixed SoV-based line items uses the screen rate card price value, and prorates it based on the Ad Settings and the rate card specification. For more information, see Add and Edit Rate Cards.
Example:
Given the following rate card attributes for Screen A:
- Ad flight = 1 Day
- Ad duration = 10s
- Price = $100
The estimated price for a Screen A, for an ad with the following attributes, is $100:
- Ad flight = 30 Days
- Ad duration = 10s
- Share = 16.67% (1 Play per loop)
Daily Average SoV
Guaranteed Campaigns
The Daily Average SoV evenly allocates repetitions across the selected screens to achieve a daily average share of voice regardless of the screens where the campaign is played. It is recommended if you have screens with different loop lengths.
For example, if there are five screens and the target daily share of voice is 20%, ideally each screen would allocate 20% of the repetitions if all screens are available. However, if some screens are not completely available, others can take on the extra load while maintaining the daily average share of voice. This ensures that the campaign's target share of voice is achieved across all screens on average, even if the distribution varies throughout the day.
The share of voice on each screen can vary each day and throughout each day as long as the target daily average across all screens is achieved. This flexibility allows for dynamic allocation of repetitions based on availability and other factors.
For example:
- 5 screens open 24 hrs have 432,000 seconds per day.
- For a 10 seconds ad, that’s 43,200 possible repetitions per day.
- 16.66% Av. Daily SoV delivers 7,197 repetitions per day.
The system attempts to deliver as evenly a possible. However, some hours can play above 16.66% and some can play below 16.66%, so long as the average across all screens for the day is 16.66%.
Some screens can have zero playout for a day.
You can enable Daily Average SoV-based line items to be rebalanced (see Use the Rebalancing Feature).

Based on the target percentage, the system determines how many repetitions it would require and that becomes the “goal”. That number of repetitions is used to perform the rebalancing.
- A Daily Average SoV respects the Maximum saturation limiter set at the domain level. For more information, see Default Parameters.
- A Daily Average SoV respects the min/max daily average SoV per screen boundaries set at the domain level. For more information, see About Min/Max Boundaries.
Note: The Min boundary is only respected if it is a P1 without Takeover.
A Daily Average SoV also has the following behavior:
- If Daily average finishes BEFORE the rebalancing window starts: no rebalancing can be done.
- For example: Daily average campaign finishes at 4:00 pm, and the rebalancing window starts at 6:00 pm.
- If Daily average finishes AFTER the rebalancing window starts: rebalancing can be done between the rebalancing window start time and Daily average end time.
- For example: Daily average campaign finishes at 8:00 pm, and the rebalancing window starts at 6:00 pm. Rebalancing can occur between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
- It is not possible to hold or book a campaign when there are partially available screens associated with it. The partial availability must be resolved manually before being able to complete the hold or book process.
- Daily Average SoV cannot be part of packages.
- When used in a Manual Selection line item:
- The campaign will play the target daily average SoV each day across all screens selected.
- The SoV on each screen can vary each day and throughout each day.
- The screens used never change.
- When used in a Dynamic Selection line item:
- The campaign will play the target daily average SoV each day across the specified number of screens.
- Any screen from the selected pool can be used throughout the duration of the campaign.
- The playout can move between screens each day, but the daily average SoV and number of screens at any time remains constant.
The boundaries maintain the daily average SoV per screen within the min and max boundaries on every screen in the selection while delivering the target daily average SoV across the selected screens.
Example: Target = 16.66%, Min boundary = -10 points, Max boundary = 25 points
- The min daily average SoV delivery per screen per day on any screen is 10%.
- The max daily average SoV delivery per screen per day on any screen is 25%.
- The daily average SoV delivery across all the screens in the selection will be equivalent to 16.66% every day of the campaign.
- The campaign will play the target daily average SoV each day across all screens selected.
- The SoV can vary by screen by day, but always remains within the per screen per day min/max boundaries.
- The campaign will play the target daily average SoV each day across the specified number of screens.
- Any screen from the selected pool can be used throughout the duration of the campaign.
- The playout can move between screens each day, but the daily average SoV and number of screens at any time remains constant.
- The SoV can vary by screen by day, but always remains within the per screen per day min/max boundaries.

- Screen B – 3PPL x $100 = $300
This gives a total of 900$.
Note: Availability and distribution are not taken into account when calculating the Suggested Price for one day.
Daily Average per Screen SoV
Guaranteed Campaigns
The Daily Average per Selected Screen SoV evenly allocates repetitions across each selected screen throughout the day to achieve a target daily average per selected screen share of voice, regardless of when the campaign is played during the day. It is recommended if you have screens with different loop lengths.
For example, if there is a single screen selected and the target daily share of voice is 20%, ideally each hour would allocate 20% of the repetitions if all hours are available.
However, If there are hours during the day where there is not complete availability, other hours can take on the extra load while maintaining the daily average for that given screen. This ensures that the target share of voice per screen is achieved on average across the day, even if the distribution varies hour by hour.
The SoV on each screen can vary throughout the day, so long as the average per screen across the day is achieved.
For example:
- Screen open 24 hrs has 86,400 seconds per day.
- For a 10 seconds ad, that’s 8,640 possible repetitions per day.
- 16.66% Average. Daily SoV per screen delivers 1,440 repetitions per day.
The system attempts to deliver as evenly a possible. However, some hours can play above 16.66% and some can play below 16.66%, so long as the average across all screens for the day is 16.66%.
You can enable Daily Average SoV per screen-based line items to be rebalanced (see Use the Rebalancing Feature).

When used in a Dynamic Selection line item:
- The campaign will play the target daily average SoV each day on the specified number of screens.
- Any screen from the selected pool can be used throughout the duration of the campaign.
- The playout can move between screens each day, but the daily average SoV per screen and number of screens at any time remains constant.
- The SoV can vary throughout the day, but always remains within the min/max boundaries.

Campaign Average SoV
Guaranteed Campaigns
The Campaign Average SoV allows you to sell your inventory by offering an average Share of Voice per campaign to your clients. This helps you ensure that the requested Share of Voice is achieved on average across the duration of the campaign. It is recommended if you have screens with different loop lengths.
For example, if you have screens in a mall that are sold out during the weekends and are undersold during the weekdays, the average SoV campaign would help you distributing plays evenly throughout the campaign duration.
The Campaign Average SoV delivers the target average share of voice as evenly as possible across all selected screens and the duration of the campaign. Each screen may have variations in SoV each day throughout the campaign, but as long as the target campaign average across all screens and the whole duration of the campaign is achieved, it meets the requirements
For example:
- 10 screens open 24 hrs running for 10 days have 8,640,000 seconds in total.
- For a 10 sec ad, that’s 864,000 possible repetitions for the campaign duration.
- 15% Campaign SoV delivers 129,600 repetitions for the campaign.
The system attempts to deliver as evenly a possible. However, some hours can play above 15% and some can play below 15%, so long as the average across all screens for the campaign is 15%.
Some screens can have zero playout for the entire campaign, although this is rare.

- The min equivalent daily average SoV delivery across the screen selection is 10% on any day.
- The max equivalent daily average SoV delivery across the screen selection is 25% on any day,
- The average SoV delivery across all screens will be equivalent to 15% based on the screen selection and the duration of the campaign.
When used in a Manual Selection line item:
- The campaign will play the target daily average SoV each day across all selected screens.
- The SoV can vary by screen by day, but always remains equivalent to the daily average min/max boundaries.
When used in a Dynamic Selection line item:
- The campaign will play the target daily average SoV each day across the specified number of screens.
- Any screen from the selected pool can be used throughout the duration of the campaign.
