Introducing Dynamic Content
Dynamic Content
Digital designs can be enriched with dynamic content. For example, a lottery advertisement may present last week's winning numbers and the value of this week's prize.
There are many kinds of dynamic content:
External Dynamic Content | Built-in Dynamic Content |
---|---|
Current Date and Time | |
Dynamic Linking to Content from XML | Countdown and Count Up |
Dynamic Linking to External Images | QR Code |
Configuring Forward and Store | |
Configuring Forward and Play |
These features can work together. For example, the link to an external image may provide the background to content that is sourced from a web page, and then has a countdown timer indicating how many days to an event.
The player looks for updated content from all sources upon startup and at regular intervals after that. Most administrators at Broadsign Ayuda customers set the interval to five minutes as this is a reasonable balance between timeliness and bandwidth consumption.
This is configured by Broadsign Ayuda Administrators in Player Configuration Models. In the Basic Info screen for that model, ensure that the Refresh Dynamic Content Periodically setting is set to Yes. To increase or decrease the time between refreshes, adjust the Interval Between Dynamic Content Updates field. The field value is in seconds. For example: 300 = five minutes.
Fonts can be configured for dynamic content but the TTF fonts must be installed both on the player AND on the computer of the user editing the content.
To add dynamic content:
- Open the design record and ensure that the Basic Info tab is selected.
- Click the button. This presents a drop down menu.
- Select Dynamic Content.
- Click the Add Content button.
- Select the needed dynamic content such as QR Code, Current Date and Time, or Countdown and Count Up.
This presents a new window.
This presents the Add Dynamic Content dialogue box.
