Leader and Follower Concepts

Leader and Follower Concepts

The Leader and Follower concepts are instrumental for orchestrating synchronized playback of campaigns across frames, whether they are on the same player or distributed across different players within a network

  • The Leader and Follower roles are assigned at the frame level using loop policies.
    • Define which frames will act as Leaders and which will act as Followers in the Synchronization Tab of the Loop Policy Properties.
    • Assign the appropriate loop policy to each frame in the Policy tab of the Frames Properties.
  • To synchronize frames across different players, create a configuration profile on the players. This profile specifies how the players will communicate with each other over the network.
  • Screen grouping is one way to isolate groups within the same network, particularly useful when managing multiple groups of Leaders and Followers.
  • Triggers play a vital role in facilitating communication between frames to coordinate simultaneous playback. They can be manually assigned or automatically created by using the Auto-synchronize bundles check box, in The Trigger Tab (Media section) of the Campaign Properties.
  • Synchronization can involve using different ad copies on different players. This can be achieved by incorporating different ad copies within the same bundle or by manually assigning the same trigger to different campaigns.
  • When a Follower frame receives a trigger, and multiple Bundles are associated with that trigger, Broadsign Control Player will typically cycle through those Bundles in a predetermined sequence. However, it is possible to instruct Broadsign Control Player to shuffle the Bundles instead. For more information, see Playlist Shuffle.

  • Note: This does not function as a true "random" rotation mode. Consequently, Broadsign Control Player might display the same Ad Copy multiple times consecutively.
