Search, Help, Options and Domain Menus

Following are some characteristics of the user menu and control panel:

• Minimize – If you minimize the ribbons, Broadsign Control Administrator will also minimize the search, help and menu icons. See Ribbons - Overview.

  

• Fixed – The search, help and menu icons appear at all times, no matter which ribbon you select.
• Reducing Application Window Size – When you reduce the size of the entire application window, a horizontal scroll bar appears in the ribbons.

As your network grows and several users import information, you will need to find resources within your network.

You can access search by clicking the magnifying glass icon at the top-right of Broadsign Control Administrator.

Broadsign has two search modes: Basic and Advanced.

Basic Search

If you click on the search icon, the basic search interface will appear in the work area.

You can search for any resource in your domain by name, IP address, MAC address, etc. The rule used in the basic search is Word match, which returns only all the resources that contain the requested word.

It is also possible to search resources by Contract IDs.

Advanced Search

If you do not know the exact word or words of the item you are looking for, we recommend using advanced search. Click the Advanced Search button, then you can select many resources in the Find in drop-down menu.

Three rules can be used in some of the search resources:

Starts with

Returns all the resources that begin with the requested string. For example, Starts with "An" will return "Angle", "Ankle" and "Analyze", but not "Banned" nor "total_ban".

Contains

Returns all the resources that have the requested string within them. For example, Contains "ban" will return "Banana", "Abandon" and "total_ban", but not "Bianca".

Word match

Returns only all the resources that contain the requested word.

Resource	Description
All Resources	Searches all the resources available in your domain by using one of the following options: General – Search resource names, IP address, MAC address, etc. It is also possible to search resources by Contract IDs. MAC address – Search for a specific MAC address. IP address – Search for a specific IP address.
Audit Log	Searches audit logs for user activity. For more details, see Audit Logs.
Account	Searches for account names.
Ad Copy	Searches ad copies by using one of the following options: General – Search ad copy names. External Id: – Search ad copies by their external ID.
Campaign	Searches campaigns by using one of the following options: General – Search campaign names. It is also possible to search campaigns by Contract IDs. Date Range – Search campaigns that start and/or end between a range of dates. State – Search campaigns that are Held, Contracted, Goal reached, or Cancelled. You can select one or more of these options. Contract – Search campaigns by using one or more of the Contract ID, Proposal ID, or Proposal Line Item ID values associated with a proposal line item that has been created in Broadsign Direct. Category	Searches for category names.
Client Registration	Searches for client registrations by using one of the following options: General – Search client registration names. MAC address – Search for a specific MAC address.
Configuration	Searches for configuration names.
Contact	Searches for contact names.
Criteria	Searches for criteria names.
Customer	Searches for customer names.
Day Part	Searches for day part names.
Display Type	Searches for display type names.
Display Unit	Searches for display units. General – Search display unit names. Criteria – Search display units by Display Unit Criteria or Grouping Criteria. A menu with three columns is displayed. Matching All Of – All Criteria in this list must be among the Display Unit’s Criteria for the Display Unit to be in the search results. This corresponds to the logical operator "AND". Matching Any Of – At least one Criterion in this list must be among the Display Unit’s Criteria for the Display Unit to be in the search results. This corresponds to the logical operator "OR". Doesn’t Match – None of the Criteria in the list must be among the Display Unit’s Criteria for the Display Unit to be in the search results. This corresponds to the logical operator "NOT". Add Criteria in any column by clicking the button and remove them by clicking the button under the corresponding column.
Domain	Searches for domain names.
Domain Upgrade	Searches for domain upgrade names.
Edge Server	Searches for edge servers by using one of the following options: General – Search edge server names, IP address, MAC address, etc. MAC address – Search for a specific MAC address. IP address – Search for a specific IP address.
Event	Searches events by using one of the following options: General – Search event names. It is also possible to search events by Contract IDs. Date Range – Search events that start and/or end between a range of dates. State – Search events that are Held, Contracted, or Cancelled. You can select one or more of these options. Contract – Search events by using one or more of the Contract ID, Proposal ID, or Proposal Line Item ID values associated with a proposal line item that has been created in Broadsign Direct. Folder	Searches for folder names.
Frame	Searches for frame names.
Group	Searches for group names.
Group Template	Searches for group template names.
Loop Policy	Searches for loop policy names.
Master Channel	Searches for master channel names.
Media Package	Searches for media package names.
Media Product Package	Searches for media product package names.
Order	Searches for order names.
Player	Searches for players by using one of the following options: General – Search player names, IP address, MAC address, etc. MAC address – Search for a specific MAC address. IP address – Search for a specific IP address.
Privilege	Searches for privilege names.
Upgrade	Searches for upgrade names.
Upgrade Channel	Searches for upgrade channel names.
User	Searches for users by using one of the following options: General – Search user names. User Name – Search for a specific user name. You must type the exact name to find it.

You can access help by clicking the question mark icon at the top-right of Broadsign Control Administrator.

Once you click on the help icon, Broadsign will direct you to the landing page of the documentation.

Changes you make to these options will impact the application or installation. In other words, these changes impact your local installation of Broadsign Control Administrator. Any user that logs in to your application will experience these changes.

• Log Out – Logs the current user out of their session. The application will revert to the log in dialogue box.
• Switch User – If your application or installation has (or will have) more than one user, you can quickly switch from one to the other. For more information, see Single Sign-On.
• Change Language – If you have installed a language pack, you can quickly switch from one language to another. For more information, see Domain Properties.
• Change Options – Opens the Options dialogue box. See Options.
• Close All – Closes all user sessions, and the application. Unlike the "log out" option, by "closing all" you will need to start the application again to log back in.

Changes you make to these options will impact the application or installation. In other words, these changes impact your local installation of Broadsign Control Administrator. Any user that logs in to your application will experience these changes.

You can access the domain menu by clicking the small "hamburger" icon, at the top right of the Broadsign Control Administrator interface.

The following menu appears:

• Edit Domain – You can configure many domain-level properties. Unlike application-level options, which only impact your installation, domain properties impact your entire network. For more information, see Domain Properties.
• Contact Book – Contains the names and details of any contacts you create in your domain. See Contacts.
• Show Transfers – Opens the Transfer Manager, allowing you to monitor larger content uploads, e.g., several large videos. To enable it, see The Defaults Tab.
• Restore Default Views – Restores the default views as configured when you first logged on Broadsign Control Administrator, after installation.
• Hide Inactive Resources – If you set a resource from "Active" to "Inactive", it remains in your cache. However, the default setting in Broadsign Control Administrator is to hide these resources. You can, if you want, deselect this property so that all resources — both active and inactive — appear in Broadsign Control Administrator.
• Record Requests to file – Records all requests — from the moment you enable the feature — in a file on your system. Provides developers using Broadsign Control API with a tool to study the operation types used for various requests. See Recording Requests to File (REST) and Recording Requests to File (SOAP).
• Stop Recording Requests to file – Stops the recording of requests. See Recording Requests to File (REST) and Recording Requests to File (SOAP).
• Look for Update – Broadsign diligently updates its software to introduce new features, and enhance its performance. Clicking on this property will check Broadsign Server for any updates to Broadsign Control Administrator that you are missing. • About – Provides the version number of your installation of Broadsign Control Administrator, your Primary and Secondary MAC addresses, along with copyright and licensing information.
