Use Contextual Filtering

To use the contextual screen filter:

Guaranteed Campaigns

1. Log in to the Guaranteed Campaigns module (we will assume you have logged in as a Direct Sales user) (see User Permissions).
2. Create a Guaranteed Campaign.
3. Select Screens Manually or Select Screens Dynamically.
4. Access the Filters panel.



5. In the Filters panel, click Apply contextual filter.



The Contextual Screen Filter page is displayed. It allows you to target your inventory.



You can:

• Target Digital Screens or Static Faces by Geolocation
• Target Digital Screens by Environment
• Target Digital Screens or Static Faces by Points of Interest (POI)
• Target Digital Screens by Criteria
6. Once your targeting is done, click Save filter.

The filter is applied to your inventory list and only the screens that fit the filter are displayed.



• To update the filter, click the Contextual Filter label. You will be brought to the Contextual Screen Filter page.
• To delete the filter, click the X icon on the the Contextual Filter label.
• If you want to add another contextual filter, you must create a new line item and apply the filter in it.

To use the contextual face filter:

2. Create a Guaranteed Campaign.
3. Create a Static Line Item

The filters available are displayed under the Targeting section. You can manage which filters you want to use.



You can:

• Target Static Faces with a List of IDs or Names
• Target Digital Screens or Static Faces by Geolocation
• Target Digital Screens by Environment
• Target Digital Screens or Static Faces by Points of Interest (POI)
• Target Static Faces by Attributes
• Target Static Faces by Format

The filter is applied to your inventory list and only the screens that fit the filter are displayed.

To update a contextual screen filter:

1. Log in to the Guaranteed Campaigns module (we will assume you have logged in as a Direct Sales user) (see User Permissions).
2. Edit a Guaranteed Campaign
3. Click the Contextual Filter label. You will be brought to the Contextual Screen Filter page, where you can modify the filter.



You can:

• Target Digital Screens or Static Faces by Geolocation
• Target Digital Screens by Environment
• Target Digital Screens or Static Faces by Points of Interest (POI)
• Target Digital Screens by Criteria
4. Once your targeting is done, click Save filter.

Bulk Upload Locations

Guaranteed Campaigns

To efficiently add multiple locations to target screens or faces, click the button in the search field.

The Geolocation List window is displayed.

Environment Targeting

Guaranteed Campaigns

You can target specific venues and screens by selecting particular environments. The targeting is based on the Venue Type value defined on the screens through the Broadsign Platform inventory. When using this targeting, the system checks the different venue types for which you have inventory and displays them as targets.

The Venue Type parameter is available in the Digital tab of the Inventory page, and when performing one of the following actions:

• Quick Screen Update: Inventory Column Details
• Bulk Screen Update .csv file: Inventory CSV File Column Details

Broadsign offers a wide range of environments. For more information, see Venue Types.

Note: The list of available environments will differ based on your inventory.

For example, you could:

• Advertise low interest credit cards to students in campuses.
• Advertise suitcases to travellers in airports.
• Advertise shoes to consumers in malls.

Points of Interest (POI) Targeting

Guaranteed Campaigns

Points of interest are landmarks or well-known buildings, such as banks, museums, or hospitals. You can include or exclude venues close to points of interest by defining a radius around them.

Digital Screens:

Static Faces:

For example, you could:

• Advertise sunscreen to young families nearby parks.
• Advertise construction material to contractors nearby renovation centers.
• Advertise city attractions to tourists nearby museums.
• Exclude certain venues, for example, when you have an ad for alcohol and want to exclude primary and secondary schools. You do this by clicking the button and it will turn red, indicating it will exclude that environment.

Criteria Targeting

Guaranteed Campaigns

Criteria are keywords or tags that allow you to target specific screens for content delivery. By assigning criteria to screens, you can ensure that your content is displayed only on the most relevant screens within your network. You can assign multiple criteria to each screen for efficient, error-free scheduling

Assigning criteria to screens is done within our Content and Network Management solution. For more information, see Criteria and Conditions in the Content and Network Management documentation.

Once screens have their criteria assigned, you can target them by clicking the Add Criteria button to create a targeting rule. There is no limit on the number of targeting rules that you can create.

Attributes Targeting

Guaranteed Campaigns

Attributes are keywords or tags that allow you to target specific Faces for content delivery. By assigning attributes to Faces, you can ensure that your content is displayed only on the most relevant Faces within your network. You can assign multiple criteria to each Face for efficient, error-free scheduling

Note: When using the Static Operations module to manage static campaign operations, the Attributes used to filter Faces when creating or editing Campaigns are derived from the Inventory Attributes assigned to those Faces. Proper setup of these Inventory Attributes is essential for the Campaigns to function as intended. Incorrectly configured Inventory Attributes can lead to Campaigns targeting the wrong Faces or failing to target the right Faces. For more information, see Inventory Attributes.

Once Faces have their attributes assigned, you can target them by clicking the Add Attributes Target button to create a targeting rule. There is no limit on the number of targeting rules that you can create.

Category Exclusions

If you have selected category exclusions in Step 3 – Select Category Exclusions (Optional) of creating the campaign, these exclusions are listed as read-only targeting rules. They cannot be changed or removed.

Examples

Here's how you can use attributes to target specific Faces:

• Include Faces with Have all of the following attributes:
• Proximity: Retail
• Proximity: Sports

This will target Faces located near retail and sports locations.



• Include Faces with Have any of the following attributes:
• Proximity: Night Life
• Rating: Star

This will target Faces located near either Night Life or Star locations.



• Exclude Faces with Have all of the following attributes:
• Proximity: Night Life
• Proximity: Retail

This will exclude Faces that have been categorized as being near night life and retail locations.



• Exclude Faces with Have any of the following attributes:
• Proximity: Retail
• Proximity: Sports

This will exclude any Faces that have been categorized as being near retail or sports locations.

Combining Include and Exclude Attributes

For more complex targeting, you can combine include and exclude attributes. For example, you could include Faces that have all the "Proximity: Retail" and "Proximity: Sports" attributes, and exclude Faces that have any of the "Proximity: Night Life" or "Rating: Star" attributes. This would ensure your content is only displayed on Faces located near retail and sports locations, excluding any Faces located near night life or star rating locations.

By effectively utilizing attributes, you can precisely target your content, ensuring it reaches the right audience at the right time and place.

Format Targeting (Static Faces)

You can target faces in a static line item according to their format (for example, billboard, poster, scroller).

• You can include or exclude specific formats from your targeting.
• You can create an unlimited number of targeting rules.
• Clicking the Format drop-down menu displays the list of available formats.
• When you select several formats from the list, the formats have an OR relationship. For example, if you select the "Billboards" and "Kiosks" formats, the system targets faces with the billboard OR kiosk formats.

Examples

Here's how you can use format to target specific faces:

• Include faces that have the following format:
• Billboards
• Kiosks



• Exclude faces that have the following format:
• Bus Shelters
• Wallscapes
